Hire Here is a grassroots organization in the Chattanooga area dedicated to educating citizens and the business community about the positive economic impact of choosing local companies and workers.  We are the people of Chattanooga, committed to making this a great place to live, work and raise a family.  We have come together to celebrate and promote Chattanooga’s best resource: our people.

We want to put Chattanooga area people to work here at home, where they can return our investment in them by giving back to the community.  Our goal is to educate the community about the benefits of hiring local people and help to demonstrate the breadth and depth of local companies and the training available here in our community. We will work with the broader community to ensure that everyone that wants to work can be afforded the opportunity.

In the coming weeks, we will be showcasing some of the outstanding workforce capabilites that exist here at home.  We also want to challenge all Chattanoogans to do their part to support local workers.  

Our statement of principles to challenge our community to do more:  

• We believe in local work for local people.  Putting people to work here at home – in our shops and restaurants, on our construction sites and in our schools – will make our community stronger.  Investing in local people is an investment in our community’s future.
• We believe in constantly striving to do better as a community.  We challenge local employers to retain 90% of all new hires right here at home.  We challenge local industry to use local contractors and crews for 100% of the projects for which they are eligible.  We challenge all Chattanoogans to do more to make this a great place to raise a family.
• We believe that investing in local companies and our people today is an investment in Chattanooga’s future.  Every dollar spent to attract new business to our area results in new dollars to improve our schools, roads, parks and offer a higher quality of life and new opportunities to our children.
• We believe that Chattanooga is home to one of the most well-trained, adaptable, hard-working and diverse work forces in the Southeast.  We are proud of the award-winning training offered by Chattanooga State and the educational opportunities available to all of us through UTC and our local high schools.  We are proud of our people and are committed to them.
